Did you know what the 2 “B” foods are that every kid should be eating regularly?
You probably guessed that one is Bananas. But do you know the other? It’s Broccoli!
Do you know why these foods are important for kids?
So what is so great about bananas?
Bananas contain three natural sugars: sucrose, fructose and glucose — that are combined with fiber. Bananas provide an instant, sustained, and substantial boost of energy. A banana (with milk) constitutes almost a complete balanced diet with potassium, vitamins, and fiber. Bananas are famous for containing potassium, an essential electrolyte that helps improve carbohydrate metabolism by helping the muscles act efficiently. Bananas are rich in folate that helps improve concentration and memory. Bananas provide 17% of your daily Value of Vitamin C, an antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals (harmful waste products) in your body and helps produce collagen, the building block of the connective tissues, such as tendons and cartilage that keep your knees strong.
And the good things that broccoli provides?
Broccoli grows in “crowns” but it is also known as the “crown jewel of nutrition”. It is incredibly vitamin-rich, high in fiber, and low-in-calories. Out of all of the veggies that you could eat, broccoli gives you the most good stuff! Because it provides so much of the stuff we need without adding to caloric intake, it also helps to fight obesity. Broccoli has also been proven to help prevent diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease.
