What if an accident happened and a child was pulled from the water at a neighbor’s pool party? The child has obviously taken in too much water but what do you do about it? If everyone waits for someone else to act, the child would be the one that suffers.
Be prepared by knowing how to administer first aid and CPR.
Becoming certified in first aid and CPR is something everyone can and should do.
Once first aid and CPR are learned, it’s important to review the required CPR steps.
Practice helps the steps to come naturally and will help a calm and clear mind to be maintained if quick action needs to be taken.
This is important because most first aid and CPR events happen in the home – requiring one to administer these steps to and in the presence of loved ones.
Where are classes offered?
Local Red Cross locations offered courses for first aid/CPR certification. Once certified, you must make sure that you keep your certification current with re-certification courses. Find where your closest courses are offered here.
If not in a course, at least review the online pamphlet provided by the American Red Cross. The American Red Cross has basic instructions in first aid and CPR in both text and picture format. There is even a free downloadable training app for your phone and printable pocket cards you can print off for your wallet, purse or glove compartment.
