Need a Fun Pool Game? Deep Sea Treasure Hunt

Premise: Acquire a lot of loose change. Dump loose change into bottom of pool. Tell swimmers to go fetch change. Hilarity ensues. Get a little more from your show-offs by letting them know they will be caught on camera! Jump into pool and capture antics on video for viewing – and laughing at – later!

What You’ll Need: Money, A pool, Waterproof video camera

How to Play: This game really gets kids fired up. Finally, swimming pays off! You can even give this a pirate theme for younger kids who may need extra motivation to go to the bottom of the pool. Older kids won’t need motivation for diving deep!

To be safe, this is probably best NOT played in at the bottom of a really deep pool or diving area. It will be better to spread the change around the pool. Swimmers have to race around the pool. This is really a sprint set camouflaged as a treasure hunt.

If you don’t have the budget for $20-$50 of change, get some pool toys and assign points to each one. For example, a red torpedo is worth 100 points, a blue ring in worth 50, etc. Allow the swimmers with the higher point total some kind of reward.

Where does the underwater video camera come in?

An adult can capture the underwater fun for viewing by the participants later! If you have video skills, you may even be able to create your own pirate treasure diving “show” to share with others!

Why do this?

Kicking and underwater skills, not to mention, it’s really fun. Just be careful as with any underwater activity. Of course, this game should always be supervised by a coach, instructor, parent or other adult.
