Little Otter Swim Schools is a member of the USSSA (United States Swim School Association) which is the preeminent organization connecting and supporting swim schools across the US and worldwide.
Little Otter takes it membership very seriously. Little Otter co-owner John Kirk has always been very active in the USSSA – winning the Association’s Guiding Light Award in 2012 and sharing lessons learned in creating workplace culture at the 2013 conference just before being recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in Charlotte NC. That’s just the tip of the iceberg. John’s commitment to the USSSA is obvious in his comments here. There is a good reason for this. John wants to give back to an organization that has been a great resource for him in building his schools and in growing as an owner. He was elected vice president in 2015 and will become president in October on 2017.
What are the benefits for Little Otter of being a USSSA member?
- Meet and socialize with other swim school peers. “It is a great comfort to know that there are others like me!”
- Learn about new products and services for the swim school industry. “This is the only real way to know what new products I should be looking at.”
- Learn from veterans and innovators in the industry. “War stories are invaluable as is the inspiration gained from forward thinkers.”
- Learn about the changes in the industry. “From regulations and health standards to safety concerns, the Association makes sure that we know what its owners need to comply with. This single benefit is worth the price to admission.”
- Learn new and effective teaching techniques or challenges. “Owners, instructors and industry experts share new methods and techniques that work and expose those that don’t.”
- Get a different (more global) perspective on the industry. “See not only the industry but your own school in a refreshing way because you get a view through the eyes of peers from very different and very similar organizations.”
