Thankfulness

Thanksgiving provides us with an official time to reflect on our blessings.

Admittedly, these are things that we shouldn’t need an official time to force us to concentrate on them, but in the busyness of our lives, we often speed right past daily reflection and thankfulness.

The Thanksgiving table provides the perfect platform for talking about some of the blessings we may overlook – even when we take the time to give thanks.

Be thankful for:

Family & family time
Our families are the center of everything we experience, learn, and enjoy. The time we spend with our family members is important and the times when everyone in our families spends time together are cherished moments. Family times give us a small sanctuary from the hectic schedules we follow. Family time can be planned, but it also can be spontaneous.

Learning opportunities
Life provides opportunities to learn at almost every moment so we can each be continuously learning if we just pay attention to these opportunities. This may be learning a simple fact or a new skill. Whatever it is, it is sure to enrich our lives.

Friends
Friends laugh with us, help us, and enjoy activities – like swimming – with us! Friends are a big part of why we enjoy life and we should let our gratefulness for our friendships show!

New experiences
Individuals and families get stuck in ruts. Sometimes we have to go out of our way to get out of our ruts. Always looking for new things to try is a great way to do this.

Water
All around us are opportunities to experience a variety of types of water! Besides amazing indoor swimming venues that provide year-round opportunities and backyard pools that we can enjoy for a good part of the year, we live in close proximity to some of nature’s most fun water venues: lakes, rivers, waterfalls, and oceans!

Changing weather
We are fortunate that we see the amazing change of seasons that Mother Nature brings to us. Instead of living in parts of the world that have little or no weather change, we are blessed with seeing the newness of life in the Spring and blazing colors of leaves changing in the Fall. We enjoy warm Summers when we can enjoy water activities in comfort and the chill of Winter that can bring the occasional blanket of snow.

Healthy activities
Lots of the things that we do are fun, whether they’re done along with a partner, in a group or as a family. When fun activities are also healthy ones, it’s definitely a bonus. Swimming happens to be one of those activities. And what’s even better is that swimming is fun and healthy regardless of how many are participating!

Little Otter Swim School makes sure children know how to swim and be safe in and around the water so that the times spent swimming are always fun and are always healthy!
